Managing Director

A proud Yorkshireman who grew up on the family farm, Tim co-owned a notable energy consultancy which was sold to the NFU in 2017, then founded Now Then Energy in 2021.

During 30+ years’ in energy consultancy, Tim worked extensively with commercial greenhouses; as a well-known industry figure put it, there isn’t a greenhouse of scale in the UK that Tim doesn’t know.

And it’s not all about greenhouses, it’s just that they tend to be at the forefront of energy technology, so what Tim’s learnt working with greenhouses can be and is frequently applied to all kinds of environments.

With vast experience in the business case for and practicalities of energy technologies, Tim often consults from the outset of a project, then his expertise in compliance and extracting the most value from assets makes him invaluable on an ongoing basis.

Director and Consultant

Ben’s been working in energy consultancy since 2016, with 15 years in banking, tech and media production before that. He was Head of Service Delivery at NFU Energy, running their account management team and overseeing large-scale energy trading and associated services, before joining Tim at Now Then in 2022.

Since joining Now Then, Ben’s been involved in everything we do. His long-term client portfolio includes greenhouses, AD plants, solar and wind generators and big energy users. His breadth of experience and enthusiasm for navigating challenges has brought him project work including the negotiation of private power purchase agreements, demand side response, new solar and CHP projects, a virtual gas pipeline and more.

If Ben doesn’t know the answer, he probably knows someone who does.

Senior Horticulture Specialist

Originally from New Zealand, Nick moved to the UK in 2011 and has held general manager/operations roles at some of the largest, most high-tech greenhouses in the UK. This experience has given him a detailed understanding of how energy relates to a crop and the whole business. Whilst our team have always worked on the basis of ‘what would we want to see’, Nick’s background gives him a unique perspective and invaluable insight on energy consultancy and takes the depth & breadth of our greenhouse knowledge to a much higher level.

Whilst Nick’s work covers our usual activities from CHP optimisation to energy strategy, cost management, and reporting, he also allows us to go beyond ‘just energy’ when working on new projects and investments for clients. We’re especially keen to see where this takes us.

Senior Consultant

Andrew has over 20 years’ experience specialising in energy management for greenhouses. Having been a trusted consultant to many well-regarded businesses in the sector, his reputation goes before him.

Andrew’s vast experience covers energy procurement and sales, the economics of greenhouse energy systems (especially CHP), and he’s an expert on energy taxation and compliance schemes such as Climate Change Levy and CHPQA.

With a keen eye for detail, fastidious process management and a talent for clear, precise communication, Andrew couldn’t have been a more perfect addition to the Now Then team.

Senior Consultant

Alice has over 15 years in the industry, working across a variety of sectors and gaining an impressive breadth of experience at some very well-known consultancies.

She began her career in energy procurement, managing gas and electricity contracts for large industrial consumers and well-known multi-site brands.

Over time, Alice transitioned into the carbon compliance and energy management space, working on schemes such as CCA, EII, ESOS, SECR and other voluntary carbon and sustainability reporting.

In addition to compliance, Alice has contributed to energy optimisation projects, helping organisations reduce consumption and improve efficiency.

We look forward to seeing what ‘big consultancy’ approaches and ideas Alice will bring, and how that can compliment the way we’re embedded into our clients’ businesses.
